Orange County, FL - A "Donuts and Drag" event at a Florida High School has been canceled due to concerns raised by the Florida Department of Education over its age and developmentally appropriateness.

Boone High School's "Donuts and Drag" event, which was set to feature drag queen Jason DeShazo, also known as "Momma Ashley Rose," has been canceled due to concerns voiced by the Florida Department of Education.

Principal Hector Maestre explained that the event was not a drag performance, but rather a meeting for one of the school's after-school clubs.

However, after a call from the Department of Education, the school was forced to cancel the event.

The department had concerns about the age-appropriateness of the event and warned that teachers, administrators, or staff members in attendance could have their professional licenses jeopardized.

DeShazo expressed his shock and disappointment at the news, saying the events are positive, educational, and beneficial.
