Suspended State Attorney's Suit Against Governor Goes to Trial

TALLAHASSEE -- The Suspended Hillsborough State Attorney gets his day in federal court, starting Tuesday.

Andrew Warren claims his free speech was violated when the Governor suspended him last August. Since then, former judge Susan Lopez has been serving as acting State Attorney.

DeSantis argued at the time that Warren broke his oath by pledging not to prosecute abortion cases or providers of gender surgery to minors.

The judge has ruled DeSantis won't have to testify in the trial, which is expected to run about four days.
