Miami-Dade's Superintendent Speaks Out On K12 Donation Investigation

Miami-Dade Superintendent Alberto Carvalho sounding off on the investigation into his deal with the K12 online platform. The School District Inspector General is looking into a 1.5-million-dollar donation K12 made to Carvalho's non-profit education foundation before he finalized the 15-million-dollar no bid contract. Carvalho says the money was to be used for 100-dollar gift cards for teachers who had to deal with the flawed platform. Carvalho says because the gift certificates were being distributed by the foundation as a “pass through” and not through the district’s payroll there's no wrongdoing.
