Suspect in Tampa Riot Fire ID'd, Facing Federal Charges

TAMPA -- A man suspected of setting the fire during protest-related looting in Tampa back in May has been arrested in Oswego, New York.

The US Attorney's Office says 20-year-old Terrance Lee Hester, Jr. turned himself in Friday.

The fire gutted a Champs store on East Fowler Avenue near USF, causing $1.25 million in damage.

The feds used surveillance video to link Hester to the disturbance, which broke out during protest over the death of George Floyd May 30th and 31st. They say Hester threw a flaming piece of cloth through a broken window that either caused or contributed to the fire.
