Hillsborough County Extends Mask Mandate One Week

TAMPA -- Face masks will be required for at least one more week in Hillsborough County.

The county's Emergency Policy Group, made up of members from the county commission, the mayors, the sheriff and the head of the school board, voted 5-3 to keep the rule. Sheriff Chad Chronister, Plant City mayor Rick Lott, and school board chair Melissa Snively voted no.

The panel is also agreeing to continue meeting twice a week, but with a change in the format. Monday's sessions will be heavy on numbers and presentations from local health officials, while Thursday's meetings will be more of an open discussion.
