Two former members of Florida's legislature showed up at Tuesday's Palm Beach County Commission meeting and spoke out against the recent removal of a roadside memorial.

Former State Representative Emily Slosberg-King's sister Dori Slosberg was among five teens who are honored in that memorial that has since been restored in Boca Raton.

"Without contacting one of the families, the county employees bull-dozed all five memorials. The county employees treated this like it was removing garbage."

Slosberg-King was injured in that 1996 crash.

Her father, former State Rep. Irv Slosberg called it shocking that a county engineer could, in his words, 'mow down a Jewish star and four crosses.'

The county has apologized and called it a mistake.

It was first thought that the memorial was in the right-of-way and was a potential road hazard, but it turns out the land is not owned by the county.

At Tuesday's meeting, County Mayor Gregg Weiss apologized to the Slosbergs, face-to-face.

Irv Slosberg says he wants an investigation into whether any county commissioner was to blame for the display's removal. Slosberg-King wants the county to have teens brought to the memorial.
