Man Dies After Eating Raw Oysters In Ft. Lauderdale

A man is dead after eating raw oysters at the Rustic Inn Crabhouse in Ft. Lauderdale. Infectious Disease specialist Dr. Mary Jo Trepka says the victim got a bacterial infection called Vibrio which is common in oysters because they are filter feeders. She recommends only eating boiled or fried oysters. Just last week a Pensacola man died after eating raw oysters from a local market. The Florida Department of Health says twenty-six people have been infected with Vibrio this year, six of them have died.
