Sophie Araque-Liu Wins Google Doodle Contest

A Treasure Coast student has won the "Doodle for Google" national contest.

6-year-old Martin County High graduate Sophie Araque-Liu was surprised by her teachers, classmates and actress Selena Gomez on Tuesday.

The actress/singer took part in a video call with the teen in which she announced that Araque-Liu was the winner.

The theme for this year's contest was 'I care for myself by..." Araque-Liu's artwork titled 'Not Alone', saying her mother was the inspiration for the piece since she is always by her side supporting her.

Araque-Liu was awarded with a $30,000 college scholarship and her the high school received a $50,000 technology award.
